The University of Port Harcourt (Uniport)  and it’s Uniport Sports Institute  and Vandyke Sportscom Limited also known as Vandyke Sports have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on August 1, 2020. 

The MOU was signed by Professor Stephen Okodudu, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Port Harcourt and Emeka Enyadike, Chief Executive Officer of Vandyke Sports.

Professor Ken Anugweje, Director, University of Port Harcourt Sports Institute and  Mario Leo, Founder and CEO of RESULT Sports from Germany (International Technical Partner of Vandyke Sports) witnessed the signing ceremony which took place in Port Harcourt, Nigeria, Johannesburg, South Africa and Buedingen, Germany. 

This MOU will create and enable a platform at the University of Port Harcourt Sports Institute for mutual creation, the development and sharing of best practices and expertise in carrying out a series of Sports Industry capacity building programs, developing Digital Sports and Technological solutions for Sports performance, Fan Engagement, Digital Marketing and Communications, Artificial Intelligence and enhancing competencies for emerging Sports industry professions.

Research into the challenges faced by Athletes, Clubs, Leagues and Federations, exploring opportunities for International partnerships and sponsorships and the establishment of Vandyke International Sports Academy with programs in Football, Basketball, Rugby, Cricket, Mixed Martial Arts, Coaches, Umpires and Referees Academies adopting the impressive International Franchises and partnerships that Vandyke Sports already have some of which will be announced in due course:

The Uniport Sports Institute and Vandyke Sports will Co-host the West Africa Sports Forum and details will be announced in due course.

A further Vandyke Sports presentation was made to  the Board members of the Uniport Sports Institute led by Professor Emeritus Nimi Briggs, Chairman, University of Port Harcourt Sports Institute Board.

Vandyke Sports is happy to announce the appointment of
Dr Colm Hickey as the first Director of the Vandyke Academy of Sports, its platform for sports Industry, Education and Research programs in partnership with the University of Port Harcourt’s Sports Institute and its Technical partner, RESULT  Sports .
This Global Platform will feature an international Academy of  Sports Industry Leaders who will share insights, case studies and  best practice with the goal of contributing to the further development  of the African Sports Industry. It will host a variety of programs beginning with:
Football Leadership, Sports performance, Digital Media & Sports, Sports technology, Sports Coaching programs, Sports Marketing and management, and more starting in June 2021
Dr Colm Hickey said: “I am honoured and delighted to be appointed as the Director of the Vandyke Academy of Sports.  It is a very exciting time to become involved in the development of the sports industry in Africa.  My role will comprise the delivery of our new Football Leadership and Management Program and the oversight and coordination of all Academy programs.”

Colm has over 40 years of involvement in education and leadership in football.  A former headteacher of a specialist sports college, he has worked extensively with Tottenham Hotspur and has also worked with Liverpool Football club delivering Leadership and Management courses in football in England, Denmark and South Africa.  He holds degrees from several universities including an MBA from Hull and a PhD from Strathclyde.  
He is the co-author of Soccer’s Missing Men: Schoolteachers and the development of Association Football and has written over 30 articles on football and sporting matters.  He is currently an Associate Lecturer in Football Studies at Solent University in Southampton (UK).   He is on the Executive Committee of Middlesex Wanderers, a football club that has undertaken over 125 overseas tours world-wide, and which has played 66 matches against FIFA ranked nations.
 

 The Video Analysis Program is designed for Football Managers, Coaches and specialized match Analysts who work with Africa's top Football Clubs in partnership with SICS OF iTALY.
Michele Crestiani, CEO of SICS is the lead Instructor but he is joined by a team of experts from the European Club space. 

 The Social Media and Sports program is delivered by Mario Leo, one of the Global Sports industry leaders in Digital and Social Media Strategy, analytics and monetization..
